About The Client

The Royal Nursery was founded in 1984 as a mail order catalog selling exclusive, high end baby gifts – later moving to San Diego and operating various brick and mortar retail locations. After 29 years in operation, they modified their business model and decided to move fully online and create their own line of products.

Project Scope

The Royal Nursery was referred back to us in late 2012 as they began to close their brick and mortar retail store and transition to a Web based environment. They had a shopping-foscused site that was designed many years before that was running XCart that was outdated and badly in need of an upgrade. They wanted to create a new look alongside their new in-house product label, and wanted to coordinate the launch of the new site to coincide with the birth of the British royal baby.

After several discovery sessions to determine their needs, we decided on a WordPress-based site with a Cart66 shopping cart. The site includes a fully custom child theme for the Genesis framework for WordPress. It includes extensive customization on the back end, allowing The Royal Nursery to add new products as they continue to expand their line. We integrated Gravity Forms with their shopping cart plugin, Cart66, that enable customization options at the product level.

The Royal Nursery uses Mail Chimp for email marketing. There is a newsletter signup form in the site footer, as well as a shopping cart integration that enables customers to signup during checkout.
