About The Client

Emma’s Shoes and Accessories is an upscale retail boutique located in Mandeville, LA, on the North Shore of Lake Pontchartrain across from New Orleans. The shop carries a variety of exclusive, high end shoe and accessory brands.

Project Scope

Emma’s approached us in July 2012, asking for a website to coincide with the upcoming August opening of their new brick and mortar boutique.  They wanted something simple, that echoed the elegance of the storefront, that contained information about their labels, featured designers, a blog and contact information.  They did not want to sell online for the time being, although they wanted to keep the option open for possibly adding in an ecommerce system down the road.

The site includes a customized child theme for the Genesis framework for WordPress. To keep costs down, we began with a predeveloped blog-focused child theme and created a widget-based Home Page to make it more retail-oriented.

We outfitted the site with a JQuery slideshow on the home page and provide ongoing graphic design services by creating new promotional slides for each season. We also designed a custom location map.

The site is integrated with Google Feedburner for email marketing. Feedburner is used for subscriber management, and sending out an email newsletter is as simple as creating a blog post.
