About The Client
Bob Burnquist is a Brazilian professional skateboarder. He has won numerous X-Games and other gold medals, and is known for innovation and technical prowess in his skating.
Project Scope
Bob approached us and asked us first to start maintaining his personal website. It was built using a custom, proprietary CMS designed by the previous developer. The site was visually appealing but the content was out of date and had a few features that needed to be updated. It also ran into bandwidth issues that crashed the site from time to time.
When we took over the site in August 2013, the first thing we did was migrate the site to a LunarPages Scalable Cloud server. The cloud has flexible bandwidth, which has prevented any more bandwidth-related crashes by ebbing and flowing with the site traffic. Initially, we finished out some incomplete administration functions and made a number of requested content updates, but as Bob began requesting more advanced features it became clear that the CMS was just not the optimal platform for the things he wanted to do.
We since developed a new site in WordPress. The platform is flexible and has many third-party plugins for embedding great-looking, customizable social media feeds while keeping ongoing maintenance costs to a minimum. Building out a site exactly the way Bob wanted it required a lot of research and planning but we are all very happy with the final result.
