About The Client
Type-S Urethane Wheels is a skateboard wheel manufacturer designed and created by two professional skateboarders: Lincoln Ueda and Sergie Ventura.
We started working with Type-S back in 2007, when we were asked to redesign their website. This is the second site we have designed and developed for Type-S Urethane, and a third is slated to launch in late 2013. The small company has seen big growth as they continue to invest in their web presence. The former Type-S website contained a fully custom CMS and blog. After a year or so of use, they were already outgrowing it: requesting a more advanced blogging platform and ecommerce integration. Their latest site launched in late 2011 using a WordPress CMS, complete with an online shopping cart and blog.
The new site uses a custom WordPress theme that was built from the ground up. They requested a simple, modern and sleek design with lots of advanced user-interface design components. The trickiest part of this project was integrating a shopping cart that supported the client’s desire for JQuery overlays and carousels in the product area.
After extensive research we decided on the flexible Cart66 shopping cart plugin for WordPress, which was selected for its flexibility to customize both the front and back end. Cart66 was the only cart that would play nice with the feature-heavy front end. The backend administration dashboard includes a fully customized product entry system that supports the visuals on the public site.
